VNA Dumpster Day

and Neighborhood Clean-up

Saturday, October 7th 8am - 12pm

PLEASE NOTE: we are combining our dumpster day and neighborhood clean-up. We will be meeting at the the Community Center (not Guardian Angels as in years past). Come drop a load off in the dumpster then grab a coffee and pastry and help cleanup the hood!

Dumpster Day Details

​

BE SURE TO REVIEW our Dumpster Use Policy before heading down as this is a VNA member funded event and we reserve use of the dumpsters accordingly. You can read these rules and list of allowed/disallowed items on our website under the resources tab.

 

We will have 2 dumpsters for trash and 1 dumpster for yard waste. We also plan to invite metal scrappers to recycle metal items. Please check our website for up-to-date information.

 

NO Electronics / E-waste recycling: sadly we have been unable to arrange for electronic recyclers to come. Please check with MRC Recyclers for their drop-off locations and associated fees: https://mrcrecycling.net/recycling-fees

Neighborhood Clean-up Details

Come join your neighbors Saturday, October 7th and help beautify the neighborhood! Enjoy free coffee and pastries as a gesture of thanks for your efforts!

 

What / Where / When:

We’re hosting a neighborhood cleanup throughout Volker on Saturday morning, October 7th beginning at 9AM. Meet at Roanoke Community Center parking lot. Backup weather date is Sunday, Oct 8th.

Our next monthly neighborhood meeting will be Thursday, Oct 12th. We are planning to meet in person and via zoom (meeting details below). Meeting location is the Loretto event space at 1111 West 39th Street (enter from 39th and Mercier). Our meeting room is on the backside of the building, accessible directly from the rear parking lot on the west side -- look for the glass doors. Call for Volunteers

Want to get more directly involved in VNA and make a difference in the neighborhood? We are looking for volunteers to help with the following activities:

 

• Real Estate Attorney / Paralegal - to help advise on housing issues.

• Neighborhood cleanups - join your fellow neighbors and help keep our neighborhood tidy and litter free!

• Yard of the Month Committee - to help select yard of the month nominees each month. Email yards@volkerna.org if interested.

• Newsletter delivery alternates - to help deliver the paper newsletter when needed

• Website / social media assistance - are you familiar with Wix, Facebook and/or NextDoor? Want to learn?

• Volkerfest volunteer/organizer - want to get involved in bringing Volkerfest back next year? Join the team and make it happen!
