Trash and Recycling

Monday is Volker's trash and recycling day.  Make sure to put stuff at the curb by 7:00 a.m., and no earlier than 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Curb side trash and recycling is available for all single family houses and apartments/condos with fewer than seven units.

The City's Solid Waste web site has all the details and rules for trash, recycling, bulky items, yard waste, and household hazardous waste.

Traffic and Parking

UMKC Southwest Trafficway Plan
In 2008 a group of students in UMKC's Architecture and Urban Design program took on the assignment of creating a plan to re-imagine Southwest Trafficway as more community-friendly street. It's a very interesting look at what could be, from the very practicle to the very idealistic.

Crime and Safety

Thanks to the hard work of VNA members, Volker is one of the safest urban neighborhoods and crime has fallen even further in recent years.  This page provides some resources to help you keep yourself, your home, and the entire neighborhood safe.

Graffiti

There are two types of graffiti - gang symbols and tags.  Most graffiti in Volker tends to be tags, the work of young taggers who are not violent yet still a nusiance.
