Apr. 5 - 9 is Street Light Week

The City of Kansas City, Mo., is asking residents to help brighten City streets, by reporting street lights that are out. Though street light outages can be reported at any time, during the week of Apr. 5, the City is asking residents to make a special effort to report outages.

With more than 90,000 street lights in operation, residents play a vital role in bringing street light outages to the attention of the Public Works Department,  said Acting City Manager Troy Schulte.   By keeping the street light system fully functional, we enhance driving safety and our neighborhoods.

The most convenient method for a resident to report a street light problem is to go online and visit www.kcmo.org/CKCMO/Services. This Web page allows residents to request service for a broken street light, in addition to other City Services.  Residents can also report street light outages to the City s 3-1-1 Action Center by dialing 3-1-1 or 816-513-1313.

Media inquiries about Street Light Week or reporting street light outages should be directed to Dennis Gagnon, public information officer for the Public Works Department, 816-513-2659.
