Update on snow plowing

As you have probably noticed, the city is having a hard time catching up with plowing residential streets after the Christmas blizzard, this weekend's extra snow, and the steep drop in temperature.  Today the city released an update on the situation and what is being done.

Sand will be spread on residential streets starting Monday morning, but bitterly cold weather is preventing salt from melting the layer of ice under the snow. As always, you can report a problem spot to the Action Center at 3-1-1 or 816-513-1313, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m Monday-Friday.  Or online 24/7 at www.kcmo.org/action.

Christmas Tree Disposal

Volker residents have several options for disposing of live Christmas trees.  The City offers yard waste drop-off centers at Chouteau Trafficway and Front Street and Raytown Road at I-470, open Saturdays and Sundays through January 16th (More info on city drop-off sites). Trees are recycled in to compost, which is availabe for free to City residents.

There are also many private services that offer curb-side pickup and/or drop-off sites for a fee. Go to RecycleSpot.org and look for "holiday trees" under the yard waste category.
